Chase Roofing, LLC Is Officially Part of the My Safe Home Florida Program in Pompano Beach

Chase Roofing, LLC, will now offer home-strengthening upgrades in Pompano Beach under the My Safe Home Florida Program.

January 20, 2023 – Chase Roofing, LLC, a  leading roofing contractor in Pompano Beach, Florida, joined the My Safe Home Florida Program to provide hurricane mitigations in Florida. The program provides free hurricane inspections to Florida homeowners with any site-built, single-family residential properties. Eligible homeowners will also get wind mitigation grants to upgrade their structures according to the findings of the inspections. The program will help Florida homeowners feel safe knowing that their properties are properly inspected and ready for hurricanes.

My Safe Home Florida was passed by the Florida Legislature in 2022 with the aim of providing homeowners living in the wind-borne debris region of the state access to grant money that will help make improvements to their windows, roofs, and other parts of their homes. In addition, the legislation has also granted tax exemptions for home-hardening projects under the program. Purchases of impact-resistant doors, windows, and garage doors will be excluded from sales tax (6%) until June 30, 2024.

All residential owners of site-built, single-family properties are eligible to apply for a free wind mitigation home inspection with no obligation to proceed with the upgrades. Applications for the program will be reviewed and approved in the order in which they are received until current funding is exhausted.

The Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) expects to complete between 140,000 and 145,000 initial Wind Mitigation Inspections to reveal elements of a home’s construction that could be improved to prevent future wind damage. Homeowners who decide to address the repairs identified in the inspections will receive $2 in state grant funds for every $1 spent, up to a maximum of $10,000. The program obliges homeowners to work with an approved list of contractors.

The DFS predicts approving between 11,000 and 12,000 Wind Mitigation Grants to fund the following:

  • Upgrades to Roof Coverings

  • Improvements to the Strength of Roof Deck Attachments

  • Roof-to-Wall Connections Reinforcements

  • Installations for Secondary Water Barriers for Roofs

  • Exterior Door Upgrades

  • Garage Door Upgrades

  • Window Upgrades

Applicants must provide proof of homestead exemption and documentation that their house is insured for less than $500,000 to qualify for the My Safe Florida Home program. They must also be located in a wind-prone area and have obtained their initial building construction permit before January 1, 2008.
