2022 AIoT Application Forum: Incorporating Metaverse Concepts into Smart Manufacturing

Perspectives on Future World Manufacturing: A New Blueprint for Industry Development

The highly anticipated 2022 AIoT Application Forum will be held on October 27th at the Nangang Exhibition Center. This forum, organized by the Foreign Trade Bureau and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), will have the theme “Envision Industrial Metaverse Impact and Opportunities” and will be streamed live in English, hoping to promote Taiwan’s ICT industry to the world. This forum invites key business leaders and experts in the metaverse field to converge and interact online and offline simultaneously. The event aims to build a win-win platform for government, industry, academe, research and finance to actively exchange opinions and views on cutting-edge metaverse technologies, to showcase the technological achievements and interactive experiences of the metaverse ecosystem and to promote the innovative development of the metaverse industry.

During the forum, there will be 7 exciting industry insights sharing sessions, with senior executives from leading metaverse companies invited to provide their insights on the latest trends. Keynote speakers include Microsoft Modern Work Global Black Belt Expert Daisuke Sato, who will deliver the speech “Reimagine Business Procedures and Empower Production Line Workers Through MR”; Quanta Computer Inc. CTO Ted Chang will present “When Digital Healthcare Meets Metaverse”; Dr. Derek Luo, Division Director of Intelligent Machinery Technology Center, ITRI, put forward the key viewpoint of “Revolutionizing Smart Factory! Industrial Metaverse Creates New Possibility”; Fujen Ho, New Product Introduction Manager of Rockwell Automation, Inc., shall provide his analysis on “Applying AR Technology in Real-World Factory Scenarios—What Are the Challenges?”; Aditya Ramkrishna, General Manager of Siemens Digital Industries Taiwan, shall present “Accelerating Organizational Productivity Through the Industrial Metaverse”; Ethen Chen, Senior Manager of Edge Computing Platform BU, ADLINK Technology Inc., shall present “Powered by AI – Envisioning AMR in the Era of AIoT”; and James Lee, VP of Enterprise & Carrier Business Unit, Far EasTone Telecommunications will present “Leveraging 5G Private Network Power to Achieve a Sustainable Future” with a lot of exciting content to look forward to.

With the wave of industrial metaverse sweeping across the enterprise world and with the advent of the AIoT era, new types of manufacturing industries are emerging one after another. By combining different business types to create new business models, the technological revolution has profoundly transformed the manufacturing landscape and ecosystem. Past business models will be increasingly challenged and new opportunities will emerge empowered by the gradual maturity of core metaverse technologies such as AI, 5G, cloud and XR technology. Any industry will have the opportunity to start a “second curve” in the emerging blue ocean of the metaverse. Taiwan’s manufacturing industry is investing heavily in the infrastructure and technological development of IoT, AI, 5G networks and other industrial IoT applications. The forum closely revolves around the transformational changes brought about by the metaverse, focusing discussions and exchanges on key technologies such as computing AI, 5G, cloud, XR technology, sensing technology, spatial interaction, virtual reality and human-computer interaction, etc. The event shall also provide exciting insights on the theme of industrial metaverse, scenario applications and market expansion, which shall provide a model for the future industrial metaverse to rewrite the industry for the manufacturing industry and stimulate more innovative business models on the road to digital transformation.
